OUR BEGINNING..

After the recession, Las Vegas and nearby cities experienced an increasing Filipino population of veterans and non-veterans immigrant families. A Filipino veteran died and few came to pay the last respect to honor his service to our country. In the words of founder Leo Fortuno, "It is sad to see a Filipino Veteran die and few come to say goodbye", inspired the formation of the Filipino Veterans Group. He conceptualized the Group with the noble purpose of uniting Filipinos who served in the United States Armed Forces and more importantly to truly serve its memebers with pride, transparency, accountability and respect.

The Group was conceived at the Hall of King Solomon Lodge #58 on 12 Septerber 2012. "Build it and they will come," someone once said! Hence, the Filipino Veterans Group was built and started with less than 10 member and to date has 384 Life-Time Members and 31 Honorary members. We share a belief in common philosophy in life and making a difference in helping other veterans and the community. The Filipino Veterans Group was incorporated in Nevada on 25 January 2013. Like most organizations we were beset with difficulties, some were resolved, some were not but we learned from them!
